How to read this page

So that you can judge what this introduction does – and what it does not.

We introduce, we do not rehome

The Margo Animal Care Initiative presents the cats and their stories. The actual rehoming runs through the animal welfare association named in each case.

Medically, to the best of current knowledge

Health information reflects the status available to us – without glossing over and without promises we cannot keep.

Open questions are named

Missing tests or unresolved questions are flagged explicitly rather than left out.

Rehoming is a vetting process

An enquiry is not an automatic yes. The association and the applicants check together whether it really fits.

Rehoming standards

How a rehoming works

Verified 15 cats have been rehomed in total so far – across all locations (source: Margo, August 2026).

Taking in a cat from abroad is a deliberate decision. These standards apply to every rehoming – without exception.

Complete health examination

Before departure: clinical examination, vaccinations, deworming, parasite treatment as well as FIV and FeLV tests. Findings are passed on in full – including uncomfortable ones.

Official export documents

Every animal travels with an EU pet passport, microchip, valid rabies vaccination and TRACES registration – the EU-wide notification for animal transport. Without these papers there is no departure.

Honest description of character

We describe what we have observed – including shyness, quirks or open questions. Surprises after rehoming endanger animals; honesty protects them.

Home check and vetting

Murka-Katzenhilfe e. V. reviews every application: living situation, experience, expectations. An enquiry is the start of a conversation, not a commitment.

No spontaneous rehoming

We do not rehome cats as holiday souvenirs or on the spur of the moment. Every rehoming is personally approved by Margo.

Support after adoption

We remain available – for settling-in questions, medical queries and emergencies. For us, „rehomed“ only means something once the animal has truly arrived.

Adoption fee and duration

An adoption fee is charged for every rehoming. It covers part of the medical preparation and the transport. Murka-Katzenhilfe e. V. states the amount and the expected duration bindingly during the enquiry.
